Message from the Superintendent

As we conclude the first marking period, I encourage you to actively participate in your child's education. For primary school parents, we invite you to attend the upcoming parent-teacher conferences. For those with intermediate, middle, or high school students, please regularly check your child's PowerSchool account to stay informed about their academic progress. Should you have any questions or require support, our dedicated teachers, counselors, and principals are here to assist you.

With the seasonal transition upon us, now is an ideal time to prepare for winter within our school community. Please take a moment to ensure that your contact information in PowerSchool is up to date, as that is the information the district uses for school alerts. This will guarantee you receive timely updates from School Messenger, our social media platforms (such as Facebook), and our district app regarding any delayed openings, early dismissals, or school closures. If you haven't already, we highly recommend downloading our district app to stay informed about all the news in BRRSD!

Lastly, I am thrilled to invite everyone to the first round of the state football playoffs tonight, October 31, at 6 p.m. at Basilone Field! This is an excellent opportunity to celebrate the talent and dedication of our players, cheerleaders, and marching band, while also showcasing our outstanding facilities. Let's come together and demonstrate our Panther Pride—I look forward to seeing you there!

One Soccer Team Is Unified With Friends

The soccer season that exemplified the spirit of Unified Sports took place this fall on the fields of Bridgewater-Raritan, where a group of friends came together. The Unified program is emblematic of our district motto of "One And All".

The head coach of the Bridgewater-Raritan High School Unified Soccer Team, Jessica Decker, shared that friendship and relationship building are the core purposes of her program.   According to Ms. Decker,  the team’s motto is  “Training together and playing together is a quick path to friendship and understanding.”

Bridgewater-Raritan's Unified Team concluded its six-game 2025 schedule with a 14-7 victory against Hillsborough High School on Wednesday, October 29, in Bridgewater.  Throughout the season, Bridgewater-Raritan produced 55 goals, showcasing a collective effort, as noted by Ms. Decker.

Eighteen different players contributed to the goals and assists, demonstrating exceptional teamwork and a commitment to involving everyone.

Congratulations to all of the students who participated this season.

Three Somerset County Champions Crowned at High School

A hat trick was achieved this autumn sports season at Bridgewater-Raritan High School.

Bridgewater-Raritan High School's girls' gymnastics team captured its fifth straight Somerset County Tournament championship when it scored 108.1250 points on Friday, October 17, at Montgomery High School. The championship effort was sparked by Alison Lardieri, who won the All Around title while she placed first in the vault, bars, and floor events.

On Tuesday, October 21, Kaitlyn Chu, a junior at Bridgewater-Raritan High School, breezed to first place in the Somerset County Girls' Cross-Country Championship race.  She finished with a personal best time of 19:00 at Pleasant Valley Park in Bernards Township. Her time was over a minute faster than her performance in the Somerset County meet in 2024, when she placed 15th as a sophomore.

The third Somerset County championship was won when the Bridgewater-Raritan High School girls' volleyball team swept past Mount St. Mary Academy, 25-18, 25-17, 27-25, in the county tournament final on Thursday, October 23, at Vaughn Stapleton Gymnasium in Bridgewater. Captains Ava Marvuglio and Jahniah Bishop guided Bridgewater-Raritan High School to its first girls' volleyball Somerset County title since 2016.

Please join us in celebrating our outstanding female student athletes!

Curriculum Corner

While students were off due to Diwali, the Bridgewater Raritan Regional School District held its second professional development day of the year on Monday, October 20.

In the morning, primary teachers attended sessions focused on phonics, student engagement, math intervention, and teaching science and social studies. Fifth-grade teachers met with a consultant to continue the intermediate school’s focus on implementing active student response strategies. Teachers in grades 4–12 participated in sessions to learn more about the new state assessment.

Special educators attended workshops on topics such as Zones of Regulation, Handle with Care, self-regulation, and executive functioning, while others engaged in collaboration and discussions within their departments. K–12 visual and performing arts teachers explored inquiry-based learning, and health and physical education teachers continued the district’s work with the Lifelines program. Across content areas, high school teachers of multilingual learners participated in continued training on sheltered instruction. English and social studies teachers continued discussions around the use of AI in education. In contrast, mathematics teachers reviewed NJSLA data to maximize student growth and evaluated new curriculum resources and options for Algebra I, Geometry, and Algebra II.

In the afternoon, most K–8 staff members had the opportunity to look ahead to the next school year in anticipation of the new grade bands set for the 2026–2027 school year. K–5 staff were introduced to new daily schedules and given time for discussion and completion of an optional survey. Content area teachers in grades 6–8 met within their departments for collaborative conversations focused on departmental priorities.

Overall, it was a busy day that will result in positive growth for our dedicated faculty and staff.

Middle School to Present Rotten Apples on November 14

The Bridgewater-Raritan Middle School will present its Fall Play, titled "Rotten Apples," which will be performed on Friday, November 14, in the Middle School auditorium.

Doors will open at 6 p.m., and the curtain will rise at 6:30 p.m. for the start of the show.

Admission is $8, but tickets are free for children under the age of five and adults over 65.

The theme of the play revolves around a group of villains who are locked in a mansion on a dark and stormy night, but with so many villains trapped together, will anyone make it out alive?

That question will be answered on the evening of November 14 when these gifted student actors will take center stage and represent the dedicated teachings from the school district's Visual and Performing Arts Department.
