Preliminary Budget for 2026/27 Presented to the Public |
At the regularly scheduled Board of Education meeting on Tuesday, March 17, Business Administrator Kevin Lomski presented the 2026/27 preliminary budget to the Board for approval. The presentation was live-streamed and can be viewed on the district website here.
This year's budget presented a unique set of challenges due to cost escalations in areas outside our control, specifically health care, energy, transportation, and out-of-district tuition.
Following a rigorous analysis, the BRRSD administration proposed a budget with a 3.04% tax levy increase, ranking BRRSD among the lowest in Somerset County. The district eliminated 17 full-time positions while still moving forward with full-day kindergarten and the district-wide grade reconfigurations planned for September 2026.
The public hearing and budget adoption will take place at the next Board of Education meeting on Tuesday, April 28. Community members are encouraged to attend in person or view the live stream.

Exciting Changes are in Store at our Intermediate Schools
The Bridgewater-Raritan Regional School District is excited to share updates to the schedules for our intermediate schools (Grades 4–5) for the 2026–2027 school year. All 4th Grade students will now have a dedicated chorus period in addition to their general music class, reflecting our commitment to the arts as an essential part of every child's education. In fifth grade, students will be able to choose chorus, instrumental music, or both during the school day, ensuring greater access for all students rather than limiting participation to before-school programs.
On the academic side, all students in Grades 4 and 5 will now receive daily instruction in both science and social studies, replacing the current alternating schedule. Additionally, world language instruction will expand to include fourth grade, and all students will have a daily extended learning period featuring enrichment modules designed to deepen learning, foster creativity, and support individual interests.
Revisions to the intermediate school schedules reflect our continued goal of providing equitable access, reducing scheduling conflicts, and creating meaningful opportunities for all students to learn, grow, and explore their interests.
