Scheduling Season for the 26-27 School Year Is Coming Up!

To kick off the process, school counselors will be visiting English classrooms during the week of February 9–13 to review scheduling procedures. Online course registration will be open from Friday, 2/3, through Monday, 2/23, so be sure to submit your course requests in the PowerSchool Parent Portal during that window.

Sophomore Career Exploration

If you were unable to attend your assigned career exploration group with your counselor, don’t sweat it! You can complete the activity independently by logging into your Naviance account and taking the Career Cluster Finder assessment, located under the Self-Discovery tab at the top of the homepage. If you’re unsure of your Naviance login information, please email your school counselor for assistance.

Marking Period 3 Snapshot in the School Counseling Office

The start of Marking Period 3 marks the halfway point of the school year! This is an important time for students to reflect on their academic goals and MP 2 progress so far. School counselors will reach out to students who failed any class in MP 2. All students may schedule an academic progress check with their counselor at any time by using their counselor’s booking link.

These groups offer a supportive environment for students to connect with peers, develop skills, and set or work toward personal goals. Students may join at any time; those interested should contact their school counselor directly.

Wellness

Mental Health Consideration

Did you know that there may be a reason your student who struggles with ADHD lies? Research indicates that ADHD responses may include fibbing.

What if your child’s lying is not evidence of a character flaw or disrespect? What if his fibs are actually a self-preservation strategy rooted in poor inhibition, emotional regulation, working memory, and attention — all hallmarks of ADHD? This is the premise behind a new theory that is giving caregivers and educators a new, neurological lens through which to view lies.Check out this article on ADHD and lying to see how you can support your student.
